Invest in Us: Trustee demonstration

Friday, March 21: Cornell on Fire joined 13 other organizations across campus in a peaceful demonstration calling on the Cornell Trustees to invest in us. As federal cuts threaten the University’s mission, we called on the Trustees to mobilize the endowment to invest in us. Speakers highlighted the need for the Board of Trustees to invest in science funding, scientists’ and students’ careers, labor justice, and diversity and equity initiatives.

Cornell on Fire spoke to the need for Cornell’s Board of Trustees to invest in climate science and act on the implications of that science. Cornell has a responsibility to fund vitally important science even in the absence of support from politicians. Cornell must not be complicit in the genocidal consensus that says, we will not do our part to avert the destruction of all life and human life on this planet.

Organized and sponsored by over 14 organizations, this rally showed the Board of Trustees that we need them to invest in us — including climate science and our futures!
