Demystifying Decarbonization

Thanks to a student from the Cornell Debate and Advocacy class for creating this flyer!

Cornell on Fire gave a public presentation and discussion of the campus decarbonization debate to Dr. Nelson’s debate and advocacy class (ILRLR 3300). Co-presenters Anthony Ingraffea, Fenya Bartram, and bethany ojalehto mays covered the science, engineering, and high-level debate around the question: Should Cornell participate in Ithaca’s fossil-fuel phaseout and begin decarbonizing heat now? Students engaged the presenters in lively discussion afterwards, analyzing the debate in relation to topics ranging from the University’s funding priorities, to the social cost of carbon, to the environmental impacts of alternative heat sources.

Wednesday, March 19 in Ives Hall Auditorium 305: The presentation began at 7:30 and discussion continued until 10:00pm. This event was open to the public.
